Advanced network coding for Unity3D

If you don’t know it yet, you should take a look at uLink, an awesome plugin enhancing network coding for Unity3D (because, yes, the default Unity3D networking API is not that good).

They work on some well known titles like Battlestar Galactica MMO (Bigpoint), ShadowGun (Madfingers) and Interstellar Marines (Zero Point Software) which I already talked about in this post.

Check out their website, I’ll post more technical details soon.

Unity4 upgrade pricing changed in response to the community rage

David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies, announced on the official forum that Unity4 upgrade cost will be lowered.

This follows the massive negative feedback of the community on forums and social networks about their first plan.

* We are going back to a more standard 50% upgrade fee for our Pro products, so they’re going to cost $750 to upgrade.

* Our Unity iOS and Unity Android Basic licenses can be upgraded for just $125, so under 32% of the full price.

* Additionally we’re doing a 20% offer of all online upgrades until July 31st (yeah!)

* For new Unity Pro purchases we are also throwing in a $200 voucher towards purchase of add-on licenses (the voucher remains valid for 12 months).

So the upgrade from Unity3.* pro to Unity4 pro cost is now $600 (instead of the original $850) until July 31st and $750 after that.
